on Art, Interaction Design, and Programming

I can’t say exactly what I’m working on but I will say this:
I’m fortunate to be working in the casual computing problem space. This is the world of Twitter and Facebook. Creating systems that facilitate the generation of content and watching humans socialize with it cuts right into deep human needs that might not be as easy to spot in more complex problems like task management, for example. We as Interaction Designers can learn learn so much from understanding the mental model of a status update, a blog post, or a Tweet.
These spaces aware notorious for being unmonetizable, i.e. 4chan. But the reason 4chan is without a doubt a cultural phenomenon is because it facilitates human creativity and expression. These are the problems we must solve before computers can walk our dogs or be in our bloodstreams or whatever batshit ideas these crazies come up with.
My goal has been to bring natural user interfaces to casual problem spaces, and it’s helped me understand the humanity in what folks like those working at my company do.
